Facebook Rolls Out Passkey Support for Seamless Logins and Secure Payments

Meta has officially introduced passkey support for Facebook users, streamlining login and payment processes across platforms. With this update, users can now log into Facebook accounts and authorize Meta Pay purchases using device-based biometric authentication such as fingerprint or facial recognition, eliminating the need for passwords.

Passkeys, which are cryptographic keys stored on devices, are seen as a more secure and phishing-resistant alternative to traditional logins. This rollout covers Android and iOS users globally and aligns with Meta’s broader strategy to enhance user privacy and convenience.

The passkey system also ensures that login credentials stay on the user’s device, adding an extra layer of protection against cyber threats. Meta has already enabled this feature for Instagram users and is now extending it to Facebook, reflecting the company’s commitment to passwordless authentication as the future of digital security.
