Harmanpreet Kaur revealed that the plan to hand the World Cup trophy to Mithali Raj, Jhulan Goswami and Anjum Chopra was not spontaneous, the Indian women’s team had decided in advance that when the moment came they would include these cricketing icons in the celebration as a tribute to the pioneers who laid the groundwork. She recalled how, after the disappointment of 2022 when such honours weren’t possible, the team resolved that “whenever we do it in the future, we will make sure that they would be in the stadium.” She described sharing that trophy-moment with those legends as something “really special”, emphasising that the current victory owes a huge debt to the struggles, sacrifices and legacy of those who came before.
