Rahul Dravid Jokes..

Rahul Dravid and Ravichandran Ashwin just dropped a gem of a throwback in the latest episode of Kutti Stories with Ash—and it’s about that infamous “Ashwin coached Australia” saga from the 2023 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

The drama kicked off when Ashwin uploaded a Tamil-language YouTube video explaining how to play spin in India, right after Australia lost the second Test. When India then stumbled in Indore, social media had a field day, accusing him of giving the Aussies free coaching tips. The backlash got so intense that the video’s thumbnail had to be changed.

Dravid, with his trademark dry humour, couldn’t resist teasing Ashwin:
"You even coached the Australian team… I saw a clip. You’re speaking in Tamil, teaching them how to play spin, and I’m thinking, Ash, the series is not over!"

Ashwin, quick on the defence, quipped:
"If I knew how to do that, I would’ve told our boys how to play spin! Why would I go and tell the Aussies?"

The banter didn’t stop there. Dravid admitted he wasn’t spared either: “The flak I got was—‘Ashwin is coaching better than you, what are you doing?’”

Ashwin then recalled a hilarious lunch-time chat with Mitchell Starc during the Indore Test: after bowling him a bouncer, Starc joked, “Can I tell you how to play the bouncer like your YouTube video?”

To cap it off, Dravid teased that maybe the Australians had roped in a Tamil translator, before Ashwin clarified that subtitles had done the job.

What could’ve been a controversy has now become comedy gold-two cricketing greats laughing off one of the most bizarre narratives the internet ever spun.
