On National Cancer Awareness Day 2025, oncologist Dr Rajesh Kumar Jain (Principal Director-Surgical Oncology, BLK‑Max Super Speciality Hospital) highlighted that around 30–50 % of cancer cases may be prevented through everyday healthy habits and outlined seven simple actions: quitting all forms of tobacco, exercising or moving your body daily, eating mainly fresh whole foods in place of processed items, minimising alcohol intake, protecting your skin from UV damage, managing stress and getting sufficient sleep, and keeping up with regular health check-ups and screenings. These steady habits, he underlined, aren’t about fear, they are about living with awareness and taking proactive steps for long-term protection.
