Anubhav Sinha has opened up about the emotional impact of his sci-fi film Ra.One (starring Shah Rukh Khan) underperforming at the box office, saying that despite the scale and Khan’s involvement, when the film flopped he was deeply hurt. He recalled that many people now say they like Ra.One, but at the time the negative response wounded him, affected him personally, and it took a long time to recover mentally. He also expressed how privileged he feels to know Shah Rukh Khan not just as a star, but as a person, praising his humility, passion, compassion, and a “middle-class mind.” Since Ra.One, Sinha has directed several critically acclaimed films such as Mulk, Article 15, Thappad, and Bheed.
