Shefali Jariwala Slams Poonam Pandey Over Cancer Death Hoax

Shefali Jariwala, the “Kaanta Laga” star, publicly rebuked Poonam Pandey on February 3, 2024, accusing her of staging a fake death from cervical cancer as a publicity stunt. Pandey had briefly declared herself dead to "raise awareness," only to later repost a video confirming she was alive drawing fierce backlash. Jariwala condemned the hoax: “Creating awareness is one thing, but faking your own death is so low,”. She revealed her father was undergoing stage‑3 colon cancer treatment at the time, describing the stunt as “insensitive” and emotionally distressing. She emphasized cancer is no joke and warned against exploiting it for attention. Pandey’s stunt was widely criticised, prompting an apology and calls for legal action. Jariwala’s remarks resonated deeply, especially given her personal connection to the fight against cancer.
