India rejects China's renaming of some places in Arunachal Pradesh: 'Vain and preposterous'

India has strongly dismissed China's recent move to rename several locations in Arunachal Pradesh, calling it a meaningless and baseless exercise.

The Indian government emphasized that Arunachal Pradesh has always been and will remain an integral part of India. It stated that assigning new names to places in the state does not change this fact.

The renaming effort by China was described as an attempt to assert territorial claims through symbolic gestures, which India views as unacceptable. India reiterated that such tactics will not impact the country’s sovereignty or its hold over the region.

Officials noted that this is not the first time China has tried such measures. Each time, India has responded with a clear and firm position, reaffirming its stance on Arunachal Pradesh’s status within the country.

India concluded by stating that any attempts to rename places will not alter the reality on the ground or influence international understanding of the region’s status.
