Government Launches fixed-fare scheme for Alliance Air

The Union government has launched a pilot fixed-fare scheme for Alliance Air, the state-owned airline, aiming to provide stable and transparent ticket pricing on select routes from October 13 to December 31, 2025. The initiative, inaugurated by Union Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu, seeks to evaluate operational feasibility and passenger response while supporting the financially struggling airline, which has seen a sharp drop in passenger numbers from 91,000 in January to 37,000 in August. Alliance Air, a key part of the government's regional connectivity scheme UDAN linking tier-2 and tier-3 cities, will implement the "Fare Se Fursat" program to offer consistent pricing per route, moving away from the usual dynamic pricing model, emphasizing public service over profitability.
