6 Forbidden Islands Around the World Including One in India

Scattered across the globe are islands so mysterious, dangerous, or protected that entry is strictly prohibited. Among them is India’s own North Sentinel Island in the Andaman archipelago, home to the Sentinelese tribe an isolated community hostile to outsiders and safeguarded by Indian law.

Also off-limits is Poveglia Island in Italy, long considered one of the most haunted places in the world. Another is Surtsey, a volcanic island off Iceland's coast, reserved exclusively for scientific research. Snake Island in Brazil remains barred due to its dense population of venomous snakes. Diego Garcia, located in the Indian Ocean, serves as a military base and is inaccessible to civilians. Lastly, North Brother Island in the U.S. is closed off due to safety hazards and conservation efforts.

These islands stand as stark reminders of nature’s power, history’s shadows, and the importance of isolation in some corners of the Earth.
