Gujrat chip city: Japanese, Taiwanese firms plan housing corridors in Dholera: TATA's fab to host expat employees

Japanese and Taiwanese firms operating in Dholera, Gujarat — including Tokyo Electron (TEL) and PSMC — are planning to set up dedicated housing corridors or private townships to accommodate their expatriate employees working at India’s first chip fabrication unit. The housing would cater to cultural and dietary needs of foreign staff, complementing housing being developed by the government and Tata. Under Dholera’s master plan, land is already earmarked for housing and recreational amenities for expats. TEL is spearheading the Japanese side of the initiative, citing the location’s remoteness and unique challenges, including food and connectivity. Other firms like Jacobs Solutions are also exploring similar infrastructure support for their workforce.
