Google Expands Gemini’s Deep Research Tool to Workspace Apps, Offers It for Free

Google has expanded its Gemini “Deep Research” tool, introducing deeper integration across its ecosystem by connecting it directly with Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Chat. This enhancement allows Gemini to access and analyse information from a user’s stored files, emails, and chats, alongside data from the web, to generate more detailed, personalised, and context-aware summaries or research reports. For example, users can now ask Gemini to compile project updates from Drive documents, extract key emails from Gmail, or summarise relevant conversations from Chat, all within a single query. The feature aims to make research and information retrieval seamless by eliminating the need to switch between multiple apps. Currently available for free through the Gemini website, Google plans to roll out mobile app support soon, positioning Gemini as a central AI assistant across the company’s productivity ecosystem.
