Apple Pushes Siri 2.0 Launch to Spring 2026, Citing Quality Over Speed

Apple has delayed its major Siri overhaul, now targeting Spring 2026 for the release of ‘Siri 2.0’ bundled with iOS 26.4 after engineers flagged reliability concerns. Initially previewed at WWDC 2024, the AI-enhanced assistant was expected this fall but fell short of Apple’s internal quality benchmarks .

Senior VP Craig Federighi confirmed that merging the existing Siri architecture with new advanced models created technical hurdles, prompting a rewrite to meet Apple’s standards. The updated timeline places launch between March and April 2026, with a possible preview during the autumn iPhone 17 event.

Apple maintains its cautious strategy prioritising on-device intelligence, privacy, and robustness—over matching later-to-market rivals.
