Apple Faces Lawsuit Over Siri Misrepresentation and Slumping iPhone Sales

Apple Inc. is facing a class-action lawsuit from investors who claim the tech giant misled them by overstating the capabilities of its voice assistant, Siri. The lawsuit, filed in California, alleges that Apple painted an overly optimistic picture of Siri’s performance, particularly in the realm of AI, which investors say did not reflect reality.

The plaintiffs argue that this misrepresentation contributed to a decline in iPhone sales, especially in China, ultimately affecting Apple’s stock value. The complaint also highlights that Apple failed to disclose the true impact of weak Siri performance on consumer sentiment and purchasing behaviour.

Filed by the City of Hallandale Beach Police Officers’ and Firefighters’ Personnel Retirement Trust, the suit seeks damages on behalf of affected shareholders. Apple has not issued a formal response. The case underscores growing investor scrutiny around AI claims and their real-world implications for big tech.
