Sarvesh Anil Kushare made history by becoming the first Indian high jumper to qualify for a World Athletics Championship final, clearing 2.28 m and finishing sixth in Tokyo — his best ever at a global event, improving from a world ranking of 38. Despite missing his first two attempts at 2.28 m, he nailed it on the third, then attempted 2.31 m but couldn’t clear it. Though he didn’t beat his personal best of 2.27 m by much, his performance under pressure drew praise and renewed belief in his rise.
