Sunil Chhetri on verge of retirement; here's what he told India manager Khalid Jamil

Sunil Chhetri shared that his decision about retirement depends on the upcoming season, stating that if his club Bengaluru FC fails to win the Indian Super League title or qualify for any continental competition, he may hang up his boots at the end of the 2025–26 season. He also mentioned that his recent return to the national team was solely to assist in the qualifiers, and once it became evident that qualification was no longer possible, he informed coach Khalid Jamil about stepping aside. Chhetri explained that his decision was straightforward, he came back with a clear purpose to help the team in the qualifiers, and when that goal couldn’t be achieved, he was content with his choice to withdraw.
