Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin recently hinted at a major IPL 2026 trade move, revealing that the Mumbai Indians have acquired all-rounder Shardul Thakur from the Lucknow Super Giants through a trade deal. The revelation came during a livestream on Ashwin’s YouTube channel, where he mentioned that the transfer had already taken place before the clip was later removed. Although the Mumbai Indians have not yet made an official announcement, reports suggest the move was made to strengthen their pace department, especially with concerns around injured pacer Deepak Chahar. Thakur, who went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction before being picked up by Lucknow as an injury replacement, is now set for a fresh start with the Mumbai franchise ahead of the 2026 season.
