"Lives More Important": 2-Time IPL Winner Urges Overseas Stars Not To Return To India

A former two-time IPL champion has made a heartfelt appeal to overseas cricketers, urging them not to return for the remainder of the IPL 2025 season due to ongoing concerns around player safety. The appeal comes amid rising tensions and unforeseen circumstances that have led to disruptions in the tournament.

The former player emphasized that while the IPL is a major sporting event and a significant part of many players' careers, personal safety and well-being must take precedence. He highlighted the emotional and mental toll that such uncertain conditions can have on international players who are far from home.

Calling the situation “bigger than cricket,” he expressed hope that the governing bodies and franchises would understand and support players' decisions if they chose to opt out. He added that cricket will always offer opportunities, but safeguarding one’s life and mental health should be the priority.

The ongoing season has faced challenges, and several overseas players are reportedly reconsidering their participation. This statement has further fueled discussions around player welfare and the broader implications for the remainder of the tournament.
