BCCI to Meet on June 14, Set New IPL Celebration Rules After Bengaluru Stampede

The BCCI has scheduled an Apex Council meeting on June 14 to address the fatal stampede outside Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during Royal Challengers Bangalore’s IPL victory celebrations. The tragic incident claimed 11 lives and left dozens injured as massive crowds surged toward players.

According to sources, the council will focus squarely on crafting standardized safety protocols for future IPL triumph events. Measures under consideration include controlled crowd limits, formal coordination with local law enforcement, designated celebration zones, and possibly ticketed fan access.

Despite speculation, there is no intention to penalise RCB, the franchise at the centre of the celebrations. BCCI officials are expected to consult state cricket bodies, security experts, and IPL franchises to develop robust, fan-friendly frameworks that prioritise both spectacle and safety.
