How do you define a total champ?
Tejaswin Shankar would probably just smile and point at the scoreboard.
The Delhi-born athlete just smashed his own national record and rewrote Indian athletics history at the Wieslaw Czapiewski Memorial in Poland on July 27. He became the first Indian ever to cross the 7800-point mark in decathlon, scoring a jaw-dropping 7826 points to finish fourth in a fierce international lineup.
And nope, he didn’t just break records — he owned them like a boss.
Shankar wrapped up the grueling ten-event marathon with a personal best of 4:31.80 in the 1500m, showing the world exactly how you finish strong. Oh, and fun fact? He already held the national record (7666 points at the 2023 Asian Games). But now? He’s upgraded himself.
Because that’s how a true champ makes a comeback.
