Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has thrown his support behind Sai Sudharsan’s inclusion in the Indian Test squad for the England series, describing the young batter as “a class act.” Sudharsan, who impressed with consistent performances in domestic cricket and the IPL, earned his maiden Test call-up for the final two matches of the five-Test series.
However, Manjrekar expressed surprise over the continued exclusion of Karun Nair, who has a Test triple century to his name. He questioned the selectors’ reasoning, noting that while opportunities are being given to emerging players, seasoned performers like Nair remain overlooked.
India currently leads the series 2-1. With the squad announcement stirring debate, Manjrekar’s remarks reignite discussions around selection transparency and merit-based inclusion, especially for players with past Test credentials.
