This Cooking Oil May Cut Dementia Risk by 28%, Boost Memory Function

A recent study highlights the brain-boosting potential of olive oil, linking its regular consumption to a 28% reduced risk of dementia-related death. Published in the journal JAMA Network Open, the research followed over 92,000 adults over three decades and found those who consumed at least seven grams of olive oil daily had notably better cognitive outcomes.

The findings suggest that olive oil’s anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties may play a key role in preserving memory and slowing neurodegeneration. Even in individuals with an otherwise unhealthy diet, olive oil consumption demonstrated protective benefits for brain health.

Medical experts now advocate replacing butter or margarine with olive oil for long-term neurological benefits. While more research is needed to explore underlying mechanisms, this study reinforces the role of dietary choices in safeguarding mental function with age.
