Designer Vino Supraja, originally from Tamil Nadu and now based in Dubai, has embraced sustainable fashion as her central mission, drawing deeply on her roots and early exposure to folk arts like Therukoothu; influenced by the documentary The True Cost, she pivoted away from fast fashion and began working closely with artisan weavers in Tamil Nadu to revive endangered crafts like Bhavani Jamakkalam by reimagining their patterns into luxury garments and accessories. She ensures eco-friendly practices throughout, using GOTS-certified organic textiles, natural dyes and pigments, avoiding plastic packaging, producing in small batches, and giving customers the option to return garments after months of use for recycling or credit. Her work has gained recognition on international stages including London Fashion Week, and she hopes through her brand to preserve cultural heritage while promoting environmental responsibility.
