Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has expressed his delight after securing a nomination in the “Best Performance by an Actor” category at the International Emmy Awards 2025 for his portrayal in Amar Singh Chamkila. He shared on Instagram Stories that the recognition is “all because of @imtiazaliofficial sir,” tagging Imtiaz Ali and Netflix India. Amar Singh Chamkila, directed by Imtiaz Ali, also secured a nomination in the Best TV Movie/Mini-Series category, while Dosanjh competes against David Mitchell (Ludwig), Oriol Pla (Yo, Adicto), and Diego Vasquez (One Hundred Years of Solitude). Co-star Parineeti Chopra congratulated the team via Instagram, calling them “proud.” The film traces the life of Punjab’s legendary folk singer Amar Singh Chamkila, renowned for his bold music in the 1980s who, along with his wife Amarjot Kaur, was tragically killed in 1988 at the age of 27; it was released on Netflix in April 2024.
