After Deepika Padukone’s exit from the Kalki 2898 AD sequel was officially confirmed by Vyjayanthi Movies, director Nag Ashwin posted a cryptic message on his Instagram Story: “You can’t change what happened, but you can choose what happens next.” The announcement from the producers stated that despite a long journey together during the making of the first film, they were unable to find a partnership suitable for the sequel, and wished Deepika well for her future projects. Reports suggest that her exit was tied to demands including a 25% hike in her acting fee, a 7-hour workday limit, luxury vanity rest facilities, and 5-star accommodations for her 25-person crew—terms the producers found difficult to accede to. Deepika has not publicly responded to these claims.
