Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1, released on October 2, earned an estimated ₹60 crore nett in India on its opening day despite slow morning shows that improved by evening and night, with the Hindi version alone contributing ~₹19–21 crore, a figure that trails KGF: Chapter 2’s Hindi opening, while the Kannada version saw theatre occupancy of 88.13 %, and dubbed releases in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi recorded occupancies of 75.34 %, 71.42 %, and 29.84 % respectively; produced by Hombale Films with music by Ajaneesh Loknath, cinematography by Arvind S. Kashyap, and editing by Suresh Mallaiah, this prequel to the 2022 film marks one of the biggest Kannada openings in the Hindi market.
