Actor Emraan Hashmi says his upcoming legal-drama film Haq—starring himself alongside Yami Gautam in a role inspired by the landmark Shah Bano case—does not point a finger at any community or malign Muslims; rather he describes it as a “balanced” narrative approached with sensitivity, declaring that as a liberal Muslim with a secular upbringing (his family observes both puja and namaz), he personally found no issue in the film’s viewpoint, and that his participation was conditioned by the fact that the film isn’t about victimising or passing judgment on a faith group. The film is directed by Suparn S. Varma, produced by Vineet Jain Films et al., and is slated for theatrical release on 7 November, also featuring actors like Vartika Singh, Danish Husain, Sheeba Chadha and Aseem Hattangady.
