Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor has backed co-star Varun Dhawan’s appeal urging the media to respect privacy during grief, in the wake of Shefali Jariwala’s sudden passing. Dhawan, in an Instagram post, criticised intrusive coverage of funerals and questioned the purpose it serves, writing that such scenes make everyone appear “uncomfortable” and do not benefit anyone.
Kapoor reshared his message on her Instagram Story, captioning it: “Finally someone said it,” reinforcing his appeal. The 42-year-old actress, celebrated for ‘Kaanta Laga’ and her stint on ‘Bigg Boss 13’, passed away on June 27 from suspected cardiac arrest. With fans and industry peers mourning, voices from within Bollywood are urging media outlets to handle coverage of such tragedies with greater dignity and sensitivity.
