Bollywood’s film pipeline is thinning, with marquee names taking on markedly fewer projects. Shah Rukh Khan, fresh off a triumphant 2023, is shooting only King, while Aamir Khan has just Sitaare Zameen Par on the slate. Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Ranveer Singh each hover around a single confirmed title, contrasting sharply with past years of back-to-back releases.

Producers cite soaring budgets, longer VFX schedules and an audience now choosy after the streaming boom. Studios are green-lighting only scripts with clear box-office heft, squeezing out mid-budget fare and slowing theatrical output.

A handful of outliers Ajay Devgn, Varun Dhawan and Kartik Aaryan still juggle multiple shoots, yet the broader trend is unmistakable: quality over quantity. Industry insiders warn that without a steadier flow of diverse releases, cinema halls risk more dark weekends ahead.
