Aamir Khan Declined Pakistan’s Demand to Edit Dangal, Says National Pride Non-Negotiable

Aamir Khan has revealed that he refused to alter Dangal for its release in Pakistan after being asked to cut scenes featuring the Indian national anthem and flag. Speaking at a recent event, the actor-producer stated that the Pakistani authorities had set the edits as a condition for screening the film in their country.

Khan said he respectfully declined the request, asserting that scenes showcasing national pride are integral to the film’s essence. Dangal, which tells the real-life story of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and his daughters, features emotionally charged sequences involving India’s national symbols.

Despite the potential box office loss in Pakistan, Khan remained firm on his decision. “I was okay with losing that market,” he said. The film went on to become one of the highest-grossing Indian movies globally, particularly in China, cementing its success without compromising on national sentiment.
