Released in theatres on 14 August 2025, War 2 has landed with a bang—and oh, does it deserve the hype. With jam-packed shows, breath-snatching action sequences, and Kiara Advani turning up the heat, the film is already proving itself one of the biggest movie spectacles of 2025.
Directed by Ayan Mukerji, this sixth chapter in YRF’s Spy Universe keeps the throttle open. Hrithik Roshan returns with lethal charm, Jr NTR makes a roaring Hindi debut, and Kiara is all claws and charisma—backed by Ashutosh Rana and Anil Kapoor. Dropping right into the Independence Day weekend, it even squared off against Rajinikanth’s Coolie. Box-office flex accepted.
For the home-watchers: the film is headed to Netflix after its theatrical sprint. If the standard eight-week window holds, pencil in an October OTT premiere—just enough time for one more theatrical run before the couch takes over.
The plot keeps the pulse racing: Kabir Dhaliwal, once the nation’s prized operative, has gone rogue and become its gravest threat. Enter Special Units Officer Vikram Chelapathi—razor-sharp, battle-tested, and carrying shadows of his own. What starts as a clean takedown spirals into secrets, betrayals, and the kind of reveals that redraw loyalties mid-chase.
Numbers, because receipts matter: by its first Sunday, War 2 hauled an estimated ₹31 crore in India, pushing the four-day net to about ₹173.60 crore. At this pace, ₹200 crore is more inevitability than ambition.
Critics? The Times of India stamped it 3/5—slick action, striking visuals, immaculate polish. Translation: come for the spectacle, stay for the swagger.
