The Fantastic Four: First Steps had big hopes riding on it, and to be fair, it did kick off with some decent buzz. But as the days rolled on, it started losing steam—fast. What exactly went wrong? It opened at a respectable ₹5.5 crore on Day 1, but couldn't hold that energy. By Thursday, the collections had plunged to just ₹46 lakh—its lowest so far.
That brings its total first-week collection to ₹26.35 crore—not terrible, but definitely underwhelming for a Marvel release. Even with a solid cast like Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby, the film just didn’t manage to create a lasting pull.
One major reason? The fierce competition. While Fantastic Four was trying to find its footing, Saiyaara was busy raking in over ₹270 crore and Mahavatar Narsimha—an animated mythological film, mind you—casually crossed the ₹45 crore mark in its first week.
Add to that the arrival of Son of Sardaar 2 and Dhadak 2, and screen space is now more crowded than ever. Though the English-language version of Fantastic Four brought in around ₹18.65 crore, the Hindi-dubbed version just couldn’t catch on, contributing only ₹6 crore. The Tamil and Telugu versions barely moved the needle.
So unless the film pulls off a surprise jump in footfall over the weekend, even crossing ₹30 crore is starting to look iffy. Marvel might've taken a bold step—but this one’s definitely not flying.
