Son of Sardaar 2’ Box Office collection day 3: Ajay Devgn-Mrunal Thakur’s comedy drama races ahead of ‘Dhadak 2’ ...

Son of Sardaar is no joke, actually—it’s going strong like the ultimate pro. Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur might just be laughing their way to the bank. This comedy-drama Son of Sardaar 2, that dropped on August 1, didn’t just do well—it pretty much blew the theatre roofs off. Even though the start was lukewarm, the film climbed the ladder steadily—slow and steady wins the race. Not bad for the sequel we didn’t even know we needed.

On Friday, the film kicked off with ₹7.25 crore. Saturday jumped to ₹8.25 crore, and Sunday topped it with an estimated ₹9.25 crore. Weekend total? ₹24.75 crore. That’s a solid win for a film that wasn’t hyped to the heavens but still brought audiences in. Sunday’s footfall was classic weekend crowd behavior—lazy mornings, packed evenings. Occupancy peaked at over 51% during the evening shows, which pretty much sealed the deal.

Meanwhile, Dhadak 2, starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, is trying to keep up. Its weekend total stands at ₹11.50 crore—barely half of what Son of Sardaar 2 managed. And then there’s Saiyaara, still holding strong in its third week with ₹8 crore this Sunday, just short of the ₹300 crore milestone.

Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, Son of Sardaar 2 brings back Devgn’s charm, with Mrunal adding fire, and Ravi Kishan bringing his own brand of chaos. Mukul Dev and Vindu Dara Singh bring in some laugh-out-loud moments, while Deepak Dobriyal impresses in a bold role. Critics gave it a respectable 3 stars. Verdict? This one’s not just riding on nostalgia—it’s earning its place the old-fashioned way: by actually being fun.
