Saiyaara' star Aneet Padda on struggles; says she secretly r ..

For Aneet Padda, the path to Saiyaara was anything but effortless. Growing up in Amritsar with dreams far larger than her means, she recorded secret audition tapes behind locked doors, telling her parents she was doing homework. Travel to Mumbai was out of reach financially, so she stitched her own journey together—first through modeling gigs and commercials while balancing her college degree, then through small but significant roles that slowly pushed her closer to cinema.

Her first film appearance came in Kajol’s Salaam Venky in 2022, followed by a standout role in the series Big Girls Don’t Cry, where she not only acted but revealed her musical side by writing and singing the song Masoom. Each step was a rehearsal for the moment Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara would place her at the center of a love story opposite Ahaan Panday.

The film, which released on July 18, charts the tender romance of Krrish Kapoor, a struggling musician, and Vaani Batra, an aspiring journalist and poet. Its success transformed both newcomers into overnight stars. Aneet recalls the last day on set as an emotional farewell, when she and Ahaan wept openly despite knowing more shoots were pending. The story had clearly seeped into their bones.

Her proudest moment, however, came offscreen, when her grandfather, battling Alzheimer’s, recognized her performance and declared it a “makkhan di movie.” It was a moment of recognition more valuable than box office numbers—a reminder of why she fought so hard to step into the frame.

In Saiyaara, Aneet Padda has found her breakthrough, but in truth, she has been rehearsing for this stage all her life.
