Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt have always been the kind of couple that Bollywood loves to watch. Their romance was full of admiration long before wedding bells and baby giggles entered the picture. In fact, Kapoor once confessed in an interview that standing next to Bhatt sometimes made him feel like he was not quite doing enough.
During a candid conversation with Rajeev Masand, Kapoor described life in lockdown with his then girlfriend. He revealed that Bhatt had thrown herself into learning everything from guitar to screenwriting. With a smile, he admitted, “My girlfriend Alia is a bit of an overachiever. I always feel like an underachiever next to her.”
Their love story began on the sets of Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra: Part One Shiva, but their paths crossed much earlier. Kapoor recalled meeting Bhatt when she was only nine years old and he was twenty. They posed together for a photoshoot for a Sanjay Leela Bhansali project that never materialised. Years later, that fleeting moment grew into a partnership that has since become one of Bollywood’s most celebrated romances.
Kapoor has spoken openly about his sense of luck in finding Bhatt, calling her both his wife and his best friend. He has described her as colourful, lively, and the perfect partner. Together they welcomed their daughter Raha, who has only deepened the joy in their household.
From calling her an overachiever to cherishing her as his closest companion, Kapoor’s words have consistently revealed a man deeply in awe of his wife. And if being an underachiever means being married to Alia Bhatt, it seems Kapoor is more than happy to keep the title.
