Mahavatar Narsimha’ beats Prabhas’s 'Saaho' to become the 8t ..

A rather good news for Hindi mythology fanatics: Ashwin Kumar’s Mahavatar Narasimha is rewriting box office history, and it’s doing so purely on word-of-mouth magic. On its 22nd day, the Hindi version has raked in a staggering Rs 147.3 crore net, surpassing Saaho to claim the 8th spot in the all-time highest-grossing Hindi dubbed films list.

What started as a humble Rs 1.35 crore Day 1 opening snowballed into a phenomenon. By the first weekend, the film had already collected Rs 21.35 crore, with Sunday alone contributing Rs 6.8 crore. Weekdays held steady in the Rs 4–6 crore range, proving that audiences couldn’t get enough, whether in single screens or multiplexes.

The second weekend truly showcased its power: Day 9 hit Rs 11.5 crore, followed by a massive Rs 17.5 crore on Day 10. Even the third weekend didn’t slow it down—Day 16 brought in Rs 16.25 crore, and Day 17 Rs 18 crore. Despite weekday dips, the Hindi total kept climbing, with Rs 6.15 crore on Day 22, all while Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s War 2 dominated screens with Rs 44 crore on Independence Day.

Unlike big-budget pan-India spectacles, Mahavatar Narasimha succeeded on sheer content, audience connection, and repeat viewings. Its mythological-religious narrative struck a chord across age groups, transforming the film into a cultural movement rather than just another release.

Hindi dubbed all-time grossers now read like a league of legends: Pushpa 2 – The Rule (Rs 830.10 crore), Baahubali 2 (Rs 510.99 crore), KGF Chapter 2 (Rs 434.70 crore), down to Mahavatar Narasimha at Rs 147.3 crore, just ahead of Saaho. Mythology never looked this box-office mighty.
