Dhadak 2’ box office collection day 1: Siddhant Chaturvedi a ..

This Friday was a full-on lunch buffet for Bollywood movie lovers, thanks to the release of two major films—Dhadak 2 and Son of Sardaar 2. And yep, both are sequels. So, does that mean two is always better than one? Well, not quite. Even though they’re both sequels, the vibes are totally different—Dhadak 2 serves emotional intensity and love, while Son of Sardaar 2 is all about laughs, drama, and full-on desi flair. Now, box office-wise, Ajay Devgn’s Son of Sardaar 2 clearly had the upper hand, pulling in over ₹6 crore on Day 1. Dhadak 2, on the other hand, had a slightly bumpy take-off with ₹3.35 crore on opening day. And both of them were going head-to-head not just with each other, but also with Saiyaara, which was expected to be some serious competition. But in the numbers game, Son of Sardaar 2 came out swinging harder than the rest.

Still, Dhadak 2 isn’t totally out of the race. The movie has been picking up traction, thanks to solid reviews from both critics and audiences. Its day-one occupancy started slow—just around 15% in the morning—but grew steadily through the day, peaking at 32% during the night shows. Clearly, the late-night crowd showed up for Siddhant and Triptii.

Speaking of Siddhant Chaturvedi, he’s been pretty vocal about how meaningful this project was. In an interview, he said, “It’s a huge responsibility…” and gave full credit to director Shazia Iqbal for sticking to her vision and keeping the film grounded and real. No melodrama, no oversimplification—just raw, honest storytelling.

If you’re wondering, Dhadak 2 is a spiritual sequel to the 2018 film Dhadak, but with an entirely different soul. It's actually a remake of the Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal and follows the story of Nilesh, a Dalit law student, and his bond with Vidhi, an upper-caste classmate. What follows is a haunting look at caste prejudice, societal pressure, and what it means to simply exist and love in a world that won’t let you.

So yeah—while Son of Sardaar 2 might win the numbers battle for now, Dhadak 2 is quietly building something stronger. Two sequels, two very different energies—but one thing's clear: the audience is here for all of it.
