The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is expected to introduce biometric authentication for candidates appearing for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) from the upcoming prelims in June 2025. This move is aimed at enhancing the integrity and transparency of the examination process.
Biometric verification, including fingerprint and facial recognition, is likely to be conducted at the entry points of exam centers. This system will help ensure that only genuine candidates are allowed to sit for the exam, curbing instances of impersonation and malpractice.
The new verification method will be implemented alongside traditional identity checks, such as admit card and valid photo ID verification. Candidates will be required to arrive at the center well in advance to accommodate the extra time required for biometric procedures.
Officials believe that this technological integration will strengthen exam security and align the process with best practices seen in other national-level exams. Candidates are advised to follow UPSC guidelines closely as updated instructions will be released closer to the examination date.
The 2025 CSE prelims are scheduled for June 16, and the commission is expected to issue the admit cards a few weeks prior, along with detailed instructions regarding the new authentication procedure.
